He reached out to push the door open further for her, motioning with his head for James to follow in--he was sure that he'd stay out in the hallway if there wasn't a fuss made about it--and moved to take some of the contents in her arms. "Unless we're early too."
Which could have been possible. He and James were both efficient in keeping organized and time management. They gave themselves more than enough time to walk over, and perhaps even some extra because Jefferson wanted to at least sort out the dinner situation.
