It shouldn't have made sense. Hunting dangerous animals? What- rabid raccoons? Far as she knew, he hadn't hinted of any worldwide travel and wasn't scouring the forests of Montana for man-eating wolves. The most dangerous animals in America were people. He was lying to her- or something like it. Holding back something incredibly important, that just like the thick atmosphere that surrounded him in her eyes, was just outside her understanding.
But it did make sense. Lisa had no idea why, but it did- and knowing at least that still didn't make her feel any better.
In fact... she felt worse.
"Right-" she said, not with scrutiny or sarcasm, but with a distinctly pained tone she didn't know how to cover up. At this point, she had no reason to- she wasn't dragging this out any further. He wasn't going to tell her anything else. So, she pressed her lips together tightly and nodded. "I guess you better get to Sam, then..."
She took in a shaky breath and let it out heavy. "Go do what you need to do. Just. Be careful."
