Sawyer caught out of the corner of his eye the motion of Booker picking up Elizabeth's lifeless body in his arms, but his main focus was making sure nothing malevolent caught them by surprise. He pointed his shotgun into the darkness, his eyes searching for any sign of movement. Didn't need four dead bodies instead of just one because he was feeling sentimental.
Though he couldn't say for the Doctor, he felt certain that if Booker and he dying would somehow bring Elizabeth back, they'd both agree in a heartbeat. Booker obviously because he was her father and wanted to protect her and loved her unconditionally. Sawyer, well...in his life, he found that there were very few, if any, truly good and decent people out in the world. If a lying scoundrel like himself could be sacrificed to bring back the only decent person he had met in Marrowood (and possibly in the world) well, there was no question.
But that was a fantasy. Elizabeth was dead and the task at hand was to get her body out of this shitty place. She deserved that at the very least. He kept his back to Booker as he carried Elizabeth through the church and out through the hole he had blasted through.
"I ain't sticking around to mess around with any black mass when there's the body of a little lady that needs to be seen to, Doc." Sawyer said callously. He didn't know this weirdo from Adam and even though he had risked his life to help find Elizabeth, Sawyer wasn't about to stick around and die for him. "Either you're on your own or you better get the lead out and follow me out of here."
With that being said, Sawyer followed Booker out of the Godforsaken church.
