Bella tucked the books she had been given under her arm, watching as the woman shifted and adjusted her glasses. Something about her made Bella think of Alice, and the joy she would feel if she had a chance to perform a makeover. But she pushed aside the thought for fear of letting it sadden her again, and mustered up a nod in agreement.
“This place isn’t very welcoming,” she agreed. “I only know a little bit about the notes. Just what I’ve read that’s been public on the network, anyway.” She really didn’t know a lot, now that she thought about it. At this rate, she was just blindly offering help where she wasn’t sure she could actually manage.
She gestured back at the messy table behind her before she spoke again.
“I noticed there’s a book on this table that has a picture of a forest,” she said, hoping it was at least a little helpful. “I don’t suppose the forest would have anything to do with what’s being researched?”
