He was late, which was true to form, really. The Doctor didn't have a timely bone in his body, not unless he pushed for it. Sometimes happy accidents occurred, too, but that wasn't the case today. He'd been a little gloomier since Rose's disappearance, something he kept close to his hearts. Having seen her name on one list already, he didn't want to add to it. Although he believed she had been returned home, the worry that something had taken her here while here did plague him. Everyday.
And that was troubling, what with the lack of need for sleep.
Coming upon the gathered group already, his future self's note in his infinite pockets, the Doctor greeted them all with a well-practiced smile. Having something with which to distract himself was welcome, especially if it meant helping solve a controversy. People in the pizza? That was on his list of most loathed things, right next to pears and being slapped (particularly by mothers).
The sight of a Gretel's weapon certainly stopped him in his pacifist's tracks, however. Shuffling closer to her after a moment, his attention so easily stolen, he looked it up and down, then back at her. "Sorry, do you expect us to need to go into battle? It's only an investigation."
The Doctor had an absolute dislike for weapons. He didn't know where his successor stood on the matter, but nothing about the presence of a blade made him feel at ease. Sure, they were in a universe where people died and came back to life days later inexplicably, but violence didn't have to be the answer. People didn't have to die as punishment. She must have had her reasons, but he still regarded the blade with a rude little scowl before moving over to the Doctor and--ah!
"Amy, hello!" He greeted with an improved smile. He hadn't been in touch with anyone in particular for some time, but her presence was more than welcomed. "Nice to see you again, and..." His frame swiveled toward Sam, mentally taking note of his height and demeanor before arresting his hand from a pocket and holding it out to him. He must have been human. "I'm the Doctor," and he paused to glance at Gretel for a more polite approach to his entrance. "Nice to meet you both, of course."
