He adjusted his stance, switching his weight from one leg to another, as he turned his gaze over the trees none too far away. Was there really anything else better he could be doing? At this point, he wasn’t so sure. Things seemed to have quieted down for the most part...though, he supposed he could have gone to visit Glenn or Beth. In fact, he hadn’t heard from either of them in a bit, although maybe Beth was busy catching up with her dad and Glenn was busy doing whatever it was Glenn did without Maggie.
Daryl pushed aside the thought and shook his head, turning his attention back to her and looking over what she was doing.
“Nah,” he said shortly. “Ain’t much to be doin’. Made the rounds a few times already-- ain’t nothin’ to report, ain’t nothin’ goin’ on.”
Did it disturb him that Marrowood seemed to have taken a more passive approach to their existence? Yes, it did. But there wasn’t a lot he could do about it except keep preparing for the worst, and he was glad to see his crossbow companion was doing much the same. He nodded toward the renovation site as he opened his mouth to speak again.
