With only her phone screen to light the way, fumbling around in an 8x10 broom closet wasn't the easiest thing in the world, especially in the end-throes of adrenaline and panic. Lisa's hands weren't exactly stable. Things dropped, tipped over, and rolled around as she went through the shelves.
"Office things, uh Windex, I-don't-know-what-that-is-" It felt like a box of powdered detergent. "Umm... batteries...okay, that's a start." Lisa tucked the pack of C's in her bra strap and went on. "Fire extinguisher...The hell?"
Next to the extinguisher was a thick wooden handle. Lisa grabbed it and pulled, finding heavy, sharpened blade on the end of it. "An ax..." Whatever. It probably went with the extinguisher, but she wasn't thinking. It would be useful, so she tucked it under her arm and looked a little further on the shelf. That's when she saw them, and almost laughed.
"Jackpot." Four large Maglites stood at attention on the top level. It hurt like hell to use her bad leg to reach all the way up, but at least they had light, a gun, and a fucking ax. After arming themselves and listening to the bang/scrapes/inhuman grunts coming from the door in the lobby, there was no longer a question in Lisa's mind.
Bloodied, dirty, and armed, facing nightmare creatures in a town full of soulless darkness. They were definitely in a horror movie.
