The diet in this place left a lot to be desired, so Emma wasn't going to convince one way or the other about what people should or shouldn't eat. She'd just report the hearsay she had available.
"That's good to know," although there was this tiny inkling at the back of Emma's mind that told her not to be so sure, but then, anyone being thrown into a new and unusual land had to, ultimately, be a little bit unsure of things. It would be enough to make people edgy and prone to lashing out. Emma understood that better than some.
Probably not entirely out there to not want to talk about where you're from, least of all if it's not a nice place. But it did make Emma a little more aware of what Jefferson meant by the vagueness and the indirect way of answering. "I guess this isn't too bad a change then. I mean, a lot of people are fairly okay with the change, which is a little bit weird, but okay."
Who was she to judge? "Although the town is completely outfitted with modern, or modern enough, technology."
