“No, not in Marrowood,” she said, correcting him as quickly as soon as he would allow her to get even a word in. “No dragons here as far as I know. The girl said they were from her world...at least, they existed there.”
As far as everything else he said, she felt a little lost. ‘TARDIS’ was not a word she was familiar with, and every mention of it a look of confusion flashed across her face. She could only assume he was referring to a vehicle of some kind, like an airship or something.
Yet the more he spoke, the more she began to understand how Booker felt every time she or the Luteces said something that confused him. So, really, it made her think that instant irritation at being so lost must have been a DeWitt trait, because that was exactly how she felt.
But she did her best to mask it, instead choosing to focus on what she did know and what she could tell him. It took her a moment to mentally organise everything, and while with most people she felt it might be a good idea not to overwhelm them, perhaps this guy wasn’t as prone to getting dumbfounded.
“Well, we know that this place hosts malicious creatures,” she began. “We’ve had people become possessed, and we’ve had people get attacked by some of the things in the forest. The hospital and church both seem to be pretty active in terms of things not too friendly. And once, some sirens went off throughout the entire town and these...things came out of the dark. Some people died, but…”
She paused for a moment, trying to find the best way to explain what happened next. What happened every time that someone ended up getting killed.
“When people die here, they just...come back after a couple of days. It’s happened to a number of people who were brought here. They’re legitimately deceased, but it’s like they wake up as if nothing ever happened to them.” It didn’t make sense to her at all, and she wouldn’t have been surprised if The Doctor didn’t take her word for it either. She wouldn’t have, after all.
