Sawyer listening to Han's tale with a placid, straight face. When he finished, Sawyer let the information sink in for a moment before responding.
"Well, Hoss, that just sounds like you were making the best out of a shitty situation," Sawyer replied, pushing his now empty glass away. He studied the younger man for a moment, as if trying to measure his mettle.
"Being an opportunist ain't villainous; it's smart. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a damn fantasy world and not likely long for this world, if you know what I mean. It's Dawinism, tiger. Only the strong survive and that's gents like you and me."
Sawyer shrugged, not pressed either way if Hans liked the cut of his jib. Might be nice to have an ally but if he didn't, he'd get on just fine on his own. He'd done it before and Saywer would do it again.
