With her eyes on the square outside the door and Lisa in between her and the patrons, Parker missed what made her companion freak out. She dodged out of the way as Lisa jumped backward, and looked rapidly between Lisa -- pressed against a table and wearing a terrified expression -- and the patrons -- their blank faces looking just a shade ominous now. Another one of the creepy, horror movie aspects of this town.
Time for a strategic retreat.
"We got it, we got it!" Park said, stepping forward to tug on Lisa's arm. "Restaurant is for patrons only," she mimicked, giving her voice the peculiar dead tone all the townspeople seemed to share. "No need to go all demon child on us."
The door was just a few steps away, and Parker threw her weight against the handle, yanking it open. "Come on, Lisa, there's no help for us here."
