Relief washed over Rosalind when she heard it was Derek. She knew that the man was a good friend of Clint's, and that made him instantly trustworthy in her eyes. She smiled for a moment, but it quickly disappeared when she heard the angry bark of the dogs somewhere beneath her. She swallowed the lump in her throat, and moved farther through the ventilation.
"I saw four," she said to Derek. She had stopped whispering as well as he did not seem worried about keeping their voices low. She supposed it made sense - the dogs knew they were in the room, and probably knew exactly where they were. They were intelligent creatures from what Rosalind saw, and she was sure that they were devising a plan to tear into her and Derek.
"I can see a way out," she said and she hurried over toward the opening she saw, flickering light filtering through the vent. She used the heel of her boot to kick it open, and dropped her bow and arrow through the opening before she lowered herself. She dangled for a bit, preparing herself for the landing though she knew it would hurt her leg regardless.
Once she was on the ground she let out a breath of relief, one that was short lived when she heard the sound of nails along the floor getting closer to her and Derek. Rosalind grabbed her bow, nocked an arrow, and let it fly the moment she saw the glowing eyes of the creature coming toward her and her rescuer. She readied another arrow, and moved to stand next to Derek. The dogs stopped their attack for the moment. "I do apologize that this has become quite troublesome," she said to Derek. "But thank you... for coming for me."
