There wasn't a large need for patrolling right this minute. It seemed like it was dying down again, even if it was only to start back up. For the most part things didn't creep too far into town, but no one was really looking to take the chances that things might start changing patterns.
Derek usually wandered the edge of the woods, it seemed more likely to find anything there, but tonight he wandered through the streets, a little restless himself. The full moon was tomorrow, and since the last one had fallen in the middle of the overrunning of the undead creatures, it'd been a battle to keep the wolf calm around all the carnage.
It was better to walk off the restlessness just now, tomorrow night he'd head through to Marrowood with Isaac and they'd burn off the rest of it and likely sleep the day away following the moon, but it was needed after missing it.
He knew that he'd likely run into someone, he wasn't the only one that patrolled along the streets after all, but he didn't expect it to be a petite blond -at first he'd thought it was Emma, but the scent was all off, so no. Not Emma. Then he noticed the whittled piece of wood and... Okay, that was likely a stake.
"I'm going out on a limb here," Derek made a point of trying not to startle people, since Maleficent had thrown a fire ball at his face for doing something similar, but sometimes it was just hard to remember to make noise when he walked. "Buffy?"
