open! (hermione & elizabeth & cosima research hour maybe?)
A belief in possession, by spirits, demons, or miscellaneous whatever, that tended to stem from a lack of understanding of medical conditions--epileptic seizures could certainly look like a demonic possession, as could schizophrenia or any number of dissociative episodes. Way back when. In the day. So that was where Cosima had gone first, upon reaching the library: the medical section. She was transferring notes from a stack of books to a document on her laptop, The fact that people from otherwise reasonable time periods were going to "spirit possession" instead of "sleeping sickness" or "toxin exposure" or... or whatever, that worried her. But for now, it wasn't shaking her off of her own particular train of research.
She believed in science, not in spooky mythology, even if she'd been working on the whole "open mind" exercise in regards to what the various residents of Marrowood claimed they could do, or the places they came from or--or whatever.
She was getting off topic, maybe, she realized, as she tried reading the same paragraph for the fourth time. More or less without comprehension. Distracted or tired or both. It was probably too much to hope that they had a Starbucks attached to the library, but she was certainly thinking fondly of going down to the coffee shop in town--the Creepybucks, until she recalled its actual name. Unless someone else in the library had a resource for things to keep her awake. Or maybe wanted to collaborate. Cosima was beginning to realize she was going to have to expand her understanding of what was going on, because narcolepsy was not communicable, there were probably not tsetse flies present in this climate and the symptoms hardly matched trypanosomiasis anyway, and the extent of the medical data present in the library was not giving her any other good leads to pursue. So she stood up, and headed for the room Hermione had said she'd be in.
