Ken's slight disappointment that Hawke didn't intend to tell the story was momentarily overshadowed by shock and he gaped at the man, "There's a book about it?" He wondered if the older man might be making this up, it was certainly something that his former-teammate Junpei would've done, but he didn't think so. His tone was too casual and he seemed to genuinely consider the absent text an inconvenience. He decided not to ask anymore questions. Maybe a copy of the book would show up anyway, like his kanji textbook, though that thought made him more uneasy than anything.
He watched the man lean against the table and flip Koromaru onto his back. The dog hadn't seen it coming, but nonetheless let Hawke roll him over without much of a fuss and quickly stilled as the mage started to administer his tummy rub. The dog's head hung back and his tongue lolled contently from his open jaws. Unable to help it, Ken laughed and said, "I think you might be the Dog Lord here too. But, just so you know, I'm not going to let you take my partner without a fight." He was quiet for a moment, his smile gradually giving way to a more thoughtful expression. "You...almost make it sound like you like it here."
