We all have monsters within us, don't we? Ken was silent for a moment, thinking about how true that was and how true it had been for him back when the whole thing had started. He'd been so lonely and so angry after the death of his mother. He'd wanted to die and the need for vengeance was all that had kept him from taking a much simpler way out. A Shadow made from all of that wasn't something that he liked to think about. Things were different now...but not so different that he didn't remember how that had felt. "Yes," he agreed finally, his voice softer than normal, "We do."
Then he shrugged his narrow shoulders, "I don't know. I don't think anybody knows. Nobody even realized that the Potential wasn't limited to humans until Koromaru." The shiba inu, still sitting beside the table, yipped proudly and wagged his tail so hard that they could hear it thumping against the floor. Ken glanced fondly down at the dog and then back at Dorian as he examined the Evoker. He was about to reassure him that it wasn't actually a gun when the man spoke again and the boy smiled.
He liked this give and take, that the other man seemed to value what he had to say and what he could do and was willing to share knowledge and tricks with him just as readily. That he wasn't treating him like a kid. "I don't know much about necromancy, apart from what you said. That you...'call upon spirits'. But I'd like to learn." Necromancy was another one of those English words that sounded very impressive, but which had never appeared during any of his studies. He'd have to look it up later if Dorian didn't go into the details.
