Ken did as he was instructed, pulling out one of the chairs and sitting across from Dorian while Koromaru sat nearby on the floor. At the mention of treats, the dog's ears pricked to attention and he barked happily, causing the boy to grin sheepishly and shake his head. "You should be careful about those promises," he told the older man, "He'll hold you to them."
He watched as Dorian poured the tea, then turned to examine the books the older man had collected. Titles were visible on the spines, but physics was mostly covered in the high school curriculum and what he knew of the subject was limited to the fundamental. He felt an uncomfortable twinge of embarrassment, not knowing how to respond, but it only lasted until the man turned the conversation from academics to magic. His gaze returned to Dorian and he blinked, startled but obviously curious. "You...can do magic?" he asked, immediately recalling his conversation with Lavellan and wondering if this man might be one of his friends. Dorian or Hawke. "You're a mage?" The word, still new, felt strange to say aloud.
