"Right there, see?" He pointed to the corner of the projection, and briefly, you could make out a half rolled newspaper in the corner of the desk. Stark had a keen eye for detail and thought he'd been here long enough to note that there wasn't any sort of newspaper or local anything happening. If anyone would be able to prove him wrong, it would be Claire.
"It's a paper for New York. Old and dated, back to '87...Which means that building wasn't always here." Perhaps it was a large assumption to make, but what other explanation? Surely Mr. Lowe hadn't taken a Newspaper with him upon waking here. "Each time he takes another picture, there are less people in the building. That thing? Is still there."
And it became more and more clear with the next photograph. He kept this roll projected but began to clean and dry the next one in hopes that it would continue them onto some more information.
