The one thing that Hawke learned well in his time as Champion was people made things his fight even when they weren't. He was thrust into situations that he didn't give a damn about but had to because if he ignored it his home would be destroyed.
Hawke almost reached across the bar and patted Lavellan on the shoulder but he remembered the elf didn't like to be touched so he kept his hands on the bar. Sometimes he could respect personal space. "Too bad. You might have to. Hopefully, you're stronger than I am when faced with the choice."
Because sometimes he wondered if sparing Anders was the right choice. Maybe he should have executed his lover. Perhaps it would've saved some lives. "She might be good for rallying the clans, but you'll have to discuss it with her. I haven't had any contact with them in ages. Varric's the only one I speak with."
