Damon had to work to keep himself focused. The dreams had been the worse than anything he had seen in his 173 years, and that spoke volumes that he couldn't begin to explain. He had to get to Elena. What if she was out here too? His first instinct was to run to wherever she was, but he couldn't. He had to work this out. "I don't know. You said they were different, or the aura or whatever was different." If they were meant to be here, wouldn't they be the same as the soulless beings that also seemed to wander? "Let's hope that this is a brief tour, and I really don't mind it when tours end early."
"I don't know what we are yet," he continued, trying to reason it out. "Where I'm from, the other side is a supernatural purgatory." He looked at the men again. "You both look human." That was a good thing as far as he was concerned. Human souls were not stuck on the other side as he knew it. If the other side collapsed though... Stupid dreams. "I'm not sure if that is what this is. We need to find either the Sleepy Hollow, or the apartments and see if we can make some noise, or find more of us who may have crossed some - I don't even know what - boundary maybe, to get here. We've got to find a way back."
