It just seemed to be one disaster after another, and if you didn't learn to roll with it pretty quickly that only made it worse. This one had hit Sam pretty hard, but he was trying to push on through it for now, which was easier said than done. Company helped, and alcohol would help more.
"The important books are fine, can we just call it a near miss and never mention it again please?" Sam said, reaching for a glass of his own.
"You know, I'd actually pay money to see that, but like Derek says, getting you drunk is probably cheaper and faster." He laughed lightly and nodded at Derek's question. "Yeah, he said something about losing a shoe and trying to shave your eyebrows. I see he failed." He poured a generous measure of whiskey into his glass and knocked back about half of it.
