He took the book immediately and began to flip through it to see if this book had an explanation as for why it worked or how it imparted some sort of magic into a liquid that wasn't stable enough to hold anything more than an infusion.
"That's lovely and all but how does it work?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Hawke was already convinced he wasn't possessed so it was no surprise that he could drink the blessed water without a problem. Dark magic was clearly at work. He'd have to figure out how to change that but without knowing the cause and who cast it well he would be poking at very dangerous powers.
"You don't have any magic, how can you make the water magical?" He snapped the book closed, took the water and froze it into ice. "See, I can change the state of the water because I am a Mage. I have magic to change everything. Reality itself flexes and bends to my will. You? You are just a person. You shouldn't be able to make anything magical."
He tossed the ice away and drew on the raw energy of magic itself, spirit, an element he had some little experience with. "And even then, water is too breakable to hold an enchantment. You can hold water in magic but you cannot make the water magical itself."
