Emma wanted to explain that Jefferson spent years travelling through worlds, that he saw more people than anyone could imagine, and then spent 28 years trapped in a repeating day, the only person who knew that time wasn't moving. But there was too much to go into and Emma didn't feel like sharing Jefferson's plight with anyone.
"Yeah, I guess I can do that. But only if you promise not to cry in the alcohol." Finally, Emma took a breath and started to sit up properly, missing the heat from Garrett's body even as she did so. She always seemed to feel cold now. "I suppose all we can do is hope if they go we go too. So that we don't notice it." Or that they were the ones to go. But Emma knew what that would do to Jefferson, another person he cared for gone. Emma understood that perfectly well.
"I don't know how many more failures I can take though."
