Patrolling was pretty much Logan's life lately, that and the defense classes he held in the police station. It was all he could do to keep his sanity. A soldier like him needed to see action every once in a while, and lately... well, the entire city had been quiet. Not that that was a bad thing for the majority of people. It meant that people weren't getting killed, or being trapped in hellish houses. Peace was good, but the problem with Logan was that he wasn't used to having peaceful moments for very long.
His patrol had taken him to the park, a usually quiet place and really not worth a second sweep on most nights. But there was a different scent in the air. It was faint (damn this place and how it dampened his powers), but he could smell it regardless. The smell of fear laced the air, mixed with saliva and maybe a little bit of blood. It put Logan's hair on edge because the smell that accompanied it was one he had faced before in the forest when they were in still Morrowood, and trying to find a way out.
"Wendigo..." he said under his breath and without a second thought his claws slid out of his knuckles. He ran toward the intermingled smells, and came across the nurse sprawled on the concrete with the large creature hovering over her. It's jaws were dripping with hunger, but it was clearly toying with her as it breathed close to her ear. Logan didn't waste another moment. He leapt toward the creature, and tackled it to the ground and away from Ann.
"Get out of here," he yelled to the woman just as the creature was trying to buck him off. But Logan was holding on for dear life, and had sunk his claws into its flesh. It wasn't going to get away from his this time.
