She was good about doting without smoothering. The smoothering was much more in a physical manner, and frankly, Jefferson couldn't care less if Emma latched onto his back like a turtle shell. He'd shamelessly feel safer and more positive about his chances overall. And of course enjoy her constant company. So her loafing cuddles and nearness were never pushed away, or any of her other affections for that matter.
"Save it in case it's needed for something more important." He waved it aside dismissively, taking a small bite of the sandwich. There were others who had seen much worse in that house. Ruby had died after all. Jefferson didn't need her to heal the disgusting slashings on his face or his bumps and bruises from colliding with the wall when her magic could be used more wisely.
Time wasn't a problem, not here at least. "Are things calming down?" Jefferson had opted to stay put at the house and put the map making on hold for now. If because he knew the city was an anxious area, he wanted to recoop, and Emma wouldn't fret all in one.
