The display was rare and Owen's smirk widened, reaching down cautiously to run his palm over the scales of her neck and the base of her head gently as he usually did when comforting her. Only in the past it had been when they were getting check ups in the muzzles. Sometimes he and Barry were the only ones who could calm the girls, Owen couldn't blame them, a muzzle wasn't for anyone.
Warm air from her nose tickled the skin on his knee but he didn't stir, still running his fingers over her side. "I'm not mad, Blue. You've done real good here for what we have to work with...given all that's happened..." He tried to assure her while keeping his voice gentle. "I won't let anymore bullshit like that happen again." That was a dangerous promise to make but Owen didn't like to vocalize limits. Sure, logic, but they were in a place with vampires. He was just as guilty for letting the pack down.
He watched her gauge the distance of her den with the call, blinking back at her in the dark silently as he weighed things. He glanced back up to the entrance of the lodging then to the raptor once more. A part of him felt guilty for the space--even if she was right outside, and Blue wasn't exactly a retriever.
"Think we should get you like a doggy door or something?" At least let her have access to inside the building to get to he and Claire. Just in case...
