Oh, but the continued creep-out was necessary because this was Grimoire and that was what it was known for. It was like how you couldn't say New York City without thinking of Times Square or Central Park; Chicago without thinking of the Sears Tower; Pawnee without thinking of JJ's Diner. At least the last was true for Leslie. And she had adjusted for this new life the best she could without breaking down completely. She was a strong woman, but even she wondered at times if she was just going to go insane eventually.
Leslie adored Ann so much, in a different way than she did Ben but still just as much (if not more). Leslie was sure that she had two soul mates with both Ann and Ben in her life. And now that Ann was the only one left with her in this place she vowed to do everything in her power to protect her best friend. And yes that meant walking down a spooky (though well lit) hallway to find the nearest nurses' station and then whatever else came next. "I know this isn't what you want to hear, Ann, but we're going to explore this entire place. Maybe not all at once! But we will... I promise. And I will protect you. I mean, who would dare stand against two powerful, gorgeous women like us?"
Leslie laughed out loud until Ann clamped down on her shoulder. And then she screamed. Screamed just as loudly as Ann did, if not just a tiny bit louder. "Ohmygodwhatisit?!" It came out as one word, and her eyes were wide with fear. She looked around, and tried to find whatever it was that Ann said that touched her shoulder. But all she saw was empty space. "So you didn't hear the laughter and the wheelchair? Because that's what I heard and that freaked me out."
She took a deep breath, and held onto Ann's arm tightly. "We have to be brave, Ann. I think it's like a dog, you know? If you show fear it knows that it can scare you so it scares you more so it does more. We have to show it we're tough." She raised her head high, and looked straight ahead. "I ain't afraid of no ghosts!"
What could Leslie say? She really loved Ghostbusters.
