Instead of looking at this as a hostage situation, which it clearly was, Owen was trying to view it from a more tactical perspective. The residents of Grimoire were just in a home base. They had nothing but what the land gave them, the land just so happening to also be their enemy. It didn't make the most of sense but it was the best he could do without getting impatient and trying something reckless and stupid. Claire already asked kindly, so he wouldn't.
The business of settling in, finding a job, were things he filed away into the lines of 'setting up base' and making a 'cover'. As long as they kept things in perspective, they wouldn't loose sight of what needed to happen, and that was escape. He just didn't know how yet.
Until then taking Claire out and spending some time together that didn't involve survival plans seemed like an entirely healthy thing to do. Not the smartest in their circumstance, but after all they'd endured, some mental relief and detachment was alright. They both stressed themselves enough to need it.
He made sure he went hunting with Blue until she had a full belly and a stockpile he was sure she thought she was sharing with he and Claire but didn't have the heart to tell her otherwise. The raptor was too pleased with herself and what was left of the pack environment Owen treaded just as easily with Blue's mental needs as he would with Claire's. He also did everyone the favor of taking a shower and trying to find something that was comfortable and acceptable for a date to wear. Truth be told, he hadn't really done a whole lot of the dating circuit himself, as per Claire's last casual encounter. She was making more than an effort to include him in her thoughts and since she was in his, well, a nice shirt and a pair of pants weren't going to kill him. It wasn't so hot either.
"All this theater work done up and they can't even provide us with a Yelp to check for negative reviews." The walk wasn't far from their chosen refuge, Claire of course took great care in centralizing them, and Blue, to the local 'amenities'. He had only checked the places for resources and the boundaries, not sampled the foods. "Should we have a backup plan in case they try and serve us brains?" Owen teased, fondly nudging at her arm but reaching for her hand in the same motion.
