(gah! sorry about this delay!)
There were a few moments of darkness where Robert couldn't recall what had happened, but at the very least he wasn't dead. The pain in his legs told him that he was very much alive; that and the fact that there was a slight feeling of panic when he found he couldn't move the beam off his legs. Robert remembered what had happened before the beam fell, he had shoved Emma out of the way to save her from such a fate, and to ensure his own survival. If one of them was free there was a better chance they'd both be found.
He heard her voice through the rubble, and coughed a few times before he could answer. "Ms. Swan!" His voice was hoarse, the result of the dust and debris in the air but also from their escape to safety. "Are you... are you all right?" Robert looked around as much as he could, but the beam had successfully pinned his legs while the rest of the floor had created a small igloo of sorts around him.
"I can't move, but I'm fine," he said to reassure his companion. "I hope my shove did not hurt you too badly." Of all the things to think about that was at the forefront.
