WHO: Jakayla Shepard and whoever is unlucky enough to be around WHERE: Middle of town WHEN: Tuesday, midnight WHAT: The Purge begins WARNINGS: Violence, cursing, NPC death? (Do these things actually die, like stay dead-dead?) STATUS: In progress
The past few days had held an especially ominous feel to it, something that was somewhat familiar to Jakayla, but at the same time, not. Ever since the announcement by the Mayor, she'd had a tight feeling in her stomach, knowing that something was going to happen, she just didn't know what. Neither had anyone else, which wasn't helping her in the slightest.
The feeling of not knowing kept gnawing at her, keeping her on edge and restless. Of course, the whole thing with her room mate and her little secret... or was it both her room mates?... certainly wasn't helping. Finding herself fretting and restless, she'd taken to doing the one thing that she knew would help. And it wasn't alcohol this time.
She'd taken to patrolling the town. Not the usual patrols, but scouting areas to make some sort of safe zone, making certain that she knew the entire layout of the place, every nook, every cranny, every means of getting from wherever she happened to be to wherever she needed to be. Everything she could do to prepare for the unknown.
And then... IT happened. Not that she knew exactly what it was, but the sudden blackout was an indication that something was definitely happening. Then the sounds, something wild, feral. Drawing her trusty M8 Avenger, glad to have it back and hoping the wonder twins had been able to do their thing, she readied it as there was movement all around her, two nearby alleyways and the street having a collection of figures... people... moving in her direction.
Jakayla couldn't recognize them. They all looked the same, and clearly, they weren't friendly. She'd been in tight spots before, but things could get really ugly really fast. "Stand down," she said, keeping the gun ready, hoping the threat would be enough. It wasn't, one figure advancing slightly before rushing towards her. Twisting her stance slightly, she adjusted her grip on the gun, popping hi.. it... in the temple, dropping it to the ground.
The other's looked at each other, a silent message after seemingly ascertaining her abilities. As one, they started advancing towards her.
"Stand." A quick burst of bullets into the ground at their feet. "Down." another quick burst. She could kill them, if it came down to it, but she wasn't one to blindly start shooting people. Not if there was a way out of it, or they needed to be shot.
She wasn't quite certain which group these fell into yet.
