WHO: Grant Ward, Skye, & Beth Greene WHAT: Patrolling is safer when you have someone watching your back. Though, Ward has to wonder why he's one of the few people with two someones. WHEN: After this and this WHERE: The streets of Marrowood RATING: TBD
Gearing up had been a simple task. He and Skye were already strapped for the most part. He'd lent Skye his MK2 simply because it held more rounds, and he knew that he would be able to use the six rounds in his 9MM more effectively than she could if it came to it. Not that he was overly expecting anything. Patrols rarely turned up much, in his experience, and when they did, it was usually because an attack was imminent anyway. But that wasn't true here. Or at least, Ward didn't think it was, but as he'd strapped his knife on the inside of his sleeve and tucked the garrote into his cuff, he knew he wasn't going to be taking any chances either way.
With the location they were meant to patrol already scouted out, it had just been a matter of meeting up with their partner. And while Ward had certainly made an amusing note of the oddity of a three man group when most of the other teams had only consisted of two people, he'd decided it was best not to bring it up. He was pretty sure why he was having his back watched by two ladies instead of just the one who seemed to trust him illogically and implicitly. Mostly because it wasn't just his back that needed to be watched.
And while he could be reasonable about that, it always allowed him to make a mental note to ponder later. Exactly what reason did the guy who assigned them these positions have to not trust him?
"Anything interesting yet, or do you think we're just up for a long night of wandering in the dark jumping at stray cats?" Ward asked, 9MM drawn and flashlight crossed over top of it as he peered around the abandoned streets.
