Things instantly felt better now that Ann was there. Leslie loved her friends without a doubt. Donna, April, Andy, Ron, Ben... god, she really loved Ben and she'd do anything for him. But there was a connection between Leslie and Ann, and there was little doubt that Leslie loved Ann the most. The greatest friendship of all time? Yeah, that was a pretty accurate description of their relationship.
She pulled back long enough to look at her again, and with a smile that reached her eyes she pulled the ethnically diverse woman into her arms. This was right, and Leslie could do this for hours. But Ann's words and the subtle differences in her look instantly told Leslie that this wasn't the same Ann from her time, and that sort of scared her. Not enough to let go, mind you, but enough that she was almost afraid to breach the subject with her best friend. But these were things she had to do. She had to do it, for Ann's sake.
"Yeah, this is a weird place," Leslie said when she finally pulled away (for good this time... maybe). She let out a sigh, and pulled on Ann's hand toward a nearby bench. Wordlessly she took her friend there, and set her down before she took the seat next to her. Leslie continued to hold Ann's hands, and turned her body to face her.
"Ann, you beautiful ethnic sunfish with legs," she said somberly. "There's some things you need to know about this place, and I just want you to be prepared for it. That's why we're sitting. This requires sitting." Leslie took another deep breath, and paused long enough for Ann to steel herself against the news.
"This is some weird universe shit," she said bluntly. "You didn't talk to me last night, but a different version of me. This version of me, this Leslie here, me... I've been here for months already. Months.. It's sucked, but it's been better since Ben came, and Andy. And Ron's here, too. Donna and April were here, too, but they're gone now. Back home, I think. I dunno. No one knows what happens to people when they disappear. It's a thing here, people disappearing." She squeezed Ann's hands to reassure the other woman. "But we're together, and it'll be okay. You'll see."
