Leslie saw the confusion in Arthur's eyes, and she related to it all too well. She was in his same position when she first arrived, and it seemed that her disbelief spawned all sorts of bad things to happen to her. They seemed so long ago now that she was thinking about it, but actually thinking about it almost made it seem like some sort of dream. Leslie spent a lot of her days pretending that she was somewhere in Indiana, hell, anywhere in America, helping out a poor, sad town to get back on its feet. It's why she worked so hard to get her park project approved by the Mayor. She needed something that felt normal even if the negotiation was far from it.
There were times when Leslie failed to make much sense at all, but this wasn't one of them. She explained the situation as best as she could, and even then she knew it wasn't good enough. Even she didn't have all of the answers, and she really didn't know how else to prove her words to the wary king. She licked her lips, and started to chew on her lip.
"Well," she started to say with a soft sigh. "None of us know why we're here. The other people here aren't very forthcoming, and there's supposedly a Mayor, but he doesn't really answer a lot of questions. He kind of sucks, really." Leslie shrugged, and shook her head, blonde locks swaying slightly. "The only thing all of us know is that we know nothing. The consensus, however, is that this is magic or something. I, personally, have no experience with magic where we're from, other than the entertainment kind. You know, pulling rabbits out of hats and card tricks. But that's not real magic, you know?"
