“Not Anna,” she said flatly. There was no point in dwelling over it, she thought. Like ripping off a bandage, she shoved aside the option for open discussion concerning the deceptive nametag with her curt answer. Elizabeth cleared her throat before she spoke up again.
“I see. Well, I think your secret is safe here,” she said. “I don’t think anyone from your world is going to find out.”
Although it appeared as though Elizabeth had moved on from her question concerning the world Hermione was from, she was internally considering all the possibilities that hid behind that particular door. Maybe the ‘magic’ she was talking about was simply another means of harnessing Vigors and Adam. Maybe Hermione’s universe was the originating point wherein Suchong got his ideas.
She tried not to dwell too long on the questions that cropped up with Hermione’s answers. Instead, she focused on the next inquiry that Hermione presented her with.
“Well...of immediate note, I’d say the devices are foreign. We had voxophones where you could record your voice and play it back later. But people couldn’t use it to communicate with you directly. A lot of the food is unfamiliar...clothing, too, from what I’ve seen. Little things like that,” she said, thoughtfully. “But I lived in the 1900’s. I suppose it makes sense things have progressed, even in a place like this.”
