Re: Jon Snow near the Gate and Arya
He craned his neck, looking up and up and up and up. The cage which he had ridden up and down in seemed small where it hung suspended by the top of the wall.
Jon was thinking as he looked at his sister. "I have another idea. Close your eyes."
He thought about what conditions were like on top of the massive ice barrier. It hadn't been so very long since he'd left there but Jon thought he would never forget. The ice on top was like a treacherously slippery road going in both directions as far as the eye could see.
The buildings around them, as well as the training yard, looked like they were releasing steam. Log structures turned into sky with the shifting fog. Day became night. There was a view with the Haunted Forest on one side and the seemingly small castle on the other down below. Opposite the stairway and the lift a railing ran some 50 yards left and right. Beyond that nothing would keep someone from falling off.
It was the stars which Jon saw, however, looking the same as they had on those nights of frozen clear weather. The stars couldn't possibly be fire, not where it was so brutally cold. They were diamonds that sparkled, surely incapable of giving any worlds warmth. His memory now brought back the cold, chilling him until he shivered.
