Unidentified Body Found Outside Hogsmeade Betty Braithwaite
The unidentified body of a young woman, very decomposed, was found several miles outside of Hogsmeade village early this morning, near the train tracks, by a herd of sheep. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement has released this information in the hope of identifying the woman. She appears to be in her early twenties, with red hair. She appears to have been deceased for several months.
That this body is found so soon after wanted fugitive Ronald Weasley is reported to have returned to Hogwarts might not be a coincidence, Ministry representative and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot Dolores Umbridge pointed out in a press conference this morning. “Dangerous elements are loose in our society,” Umbridge stated, “We must do everything possible to weed them out.”
Readers should remember that Weasley was on the run from the Ministry with fellow students Harry Potter and the muggleborn Hermione Granger.Readers should also remember that the current Headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall, has refused to allow Ministry Aurors access to Weasley for questioning. |

Hogwarts Harbors Fugitive Betty Braithwaite
The most recent in series of brash events which began nearly immediately after she was named Headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall is now flaunting her dangerous despotism by harboring a fugitive within Hogwarts castle.
Ronald Weasley, wanted for questioning in many recent activities including the murder of former Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour and former Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, has been on the run with co-conspirators Harry Potter and Hermione Granger since the attack on the Ministry of Magic two months ago. Representatives of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, however, learned this week that Weasley had secretly returned to Hogwarts. Minister Thicknesse reports that McGonagall has been made aware of the serious need to question Weasley about October’s events, but that she refused to release him to the proper authorities.
Aurors were dispatched to remove Weasley from Hogsmeade station this morning as students returned home for the holidays. However, upon arriving they were turned back by McGonagall and several other professors.
The Board of Governors of Hogwarts, many of whom now sit on the Wizengamot, have been informed and are now discussing the removal of the Headmistress from her post, a decision which will certainly be in the best interest of Hogwarts. Chief Warlock Delores Umbridge stated this afternoon that this outcome is almost assured. |

Who: Students going home for Holidays What: The ride home. Where: Hogsmeade station, then the Express When: This morning Rating/Warning: TBA
The crisp winter air tried its best to worm its way under the warm robes and scarves of the Hogwarts students as they left the castle that morning. The usual jostling and catcalls of those who were leaving for home and the jeers and waves of those staying carried across the chilly air as the majority of the student body made their way into the waiting carriages. Excited chatter and bragging about plans for the holidays kept most of them warm, flushed with anticipation of going home and spending the holiday with loved ones. Even those who were more subdued by recent events, even their eyes held a glimmer of hope and a yearning for the supposed safety and comfort of home.
Outside the station stood Professors McGongall, Slughorn, Flitwick, and Weasley. If something unpleasant had happened, it was not in the stoic or determined faces of the professors, who bid the students to enter the platform and board the train quickly. Once they arrived at the train platform, all was well-organized chaos as professors made sure students and baggage and pets all made it onto the train safely, watching with fond relief as the Hogwarts Express pulled out and headed back for King's cross in a plume of white steaming smoke and a shrill whistle of farewell. |

Quidditch: Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff |
[Dec. 12th, 2009|05:29 pm] |
The weather was uncharacteristically warm for a December morning this close to Christmas, and the unexpected warming, even if it was only slight, seemed to lift the dark mood that seemed to sit every day over the castle now as the Quidditch teams took the field. It was nothing short of a renewed sort of excitement. There had been too much worry in the students' hearts as of late; too much death, too much studying, and they took this chance to enjoy themselves seriously in its possibilities.
