Tonks jumped when her mother knocked on the door, and before she opened it, she took a deep breath and tugged the hem of her shirt self-consciously. At the start of the third trimester, there was no question she was showing, but she'd avoided seeing her parents since finding out, and she was sure her mother was going to have some sort of reaction. With luck, she wouldn't immediately launch into a lecture or faint. Neither of those options was appealing.
Opening the door, Tonks plastered on the widest smile she could muster, lest her mother think her miserable. She was, but that wasn't something she wanted to get into right away. "Mum," she said warmly, stepping aside so she could enter. "It's good to see you. Let me just grab my cloak."
