The only thing keeping Tonks from pacing the length of her office was the six hours she'd spent teaching that day. She was tired and not much in the mood to face her mother, but she had to go through with it sooner or later. She dreaded the inevitable lecture, but she desperately needed the hug that she hoped would come along with it.
She could do this. She could face her mother and come out the other side without any permanent damage. She could be an adult and make what she wanted clear. And maybe if she were lucky, everything would work out in the end.
It hadn't been an easy month, but as May quickly approached, only two and a half months away, she knew she didn't have the luxury of wallowing or fighting. She had--clothes to buy and cribs to put together and books to read on how exactly she was supposed to do this. And a name. God, a name.
She glanced at the clock again. Andromeda would be there any moment, and Tonks had to pull herself together. Showing anything but unwavering resolve would only make things worse.
