Bellatrix didn't put much stock in holidays, but she had little doubt that Rodolphus was planning a surprise. She cooked dinner for them, refraining this time from burning anything, and she took pains to make herself presentable for him. The evening was supposed to be romantic, and she had no illusions of what effect her appearance had on the matter.
Spotting Rodolphus holding flowers, she smiled and stood to greet him. "I've missed you," she said. "Those look lovely."
