It was kinda cute the way Felix cowered under the elderly and diminutive librarian's glare. Kevin pursed his lips as Felix made a valiant effort at apologizing, but when the dear Madam told the Hufflepuff off, Kevin winced inwardly.
Snatching the candy canes from his bookbag and stuffing them in his back pocket, Kevin sauntered over to the door where Pince was excoriating the poor Puff.
"I had a little beetle, so that beetle was his name. And I called him Alexander, and he answered just the same. And I put him in a matchbox and I kept him all the day," Kevin recited with a wry grin on his face and a wink for Felix.
Madam Pince huffed a short breath through her nose.
"Not right now, Mr. Entwhistle," Pince answered in a much softer tone than she had used on Felix.
"But Madam Pince," Kevin sidled between the librarian and Felix. "I'm sure Felix here was working on NEWT-level work, weren't you Felix?"
