Eric let out a fairly loud belch, catching the server off guard as she approached his table to give him a second helping of fish and chips. "Thanks," he said, popping one in his mouth. They were greasier than usual and Eric seemed overtly pleased about that. He likely spent more time in that particular cafe than anyone else, something he realised when all the servers knew him by name and his preferred foods. Though he did not make a lot of money, Eric certainly liked to spend it on food. He was, however, a much better cook and always had a couple of his rugby mates over for dinner.
As he read a magazine article about ancient magical philosophies and how they changed over the past hundred years, Eric looked very engrossed and interested. It was not often that he had the chance to read something as genuine and interesting as an archaeological thesis on the evolution of magical philosophies. The article alone occupied the majority of the magazine.
"Can I get more coffee?" he asked the server, rubbing his eyes a bit. Two night shifts in a row was certainly better than what they could have done, and he was very glad he had the following day off.
