Tensing slightly at the contact—Charlie was usually uncomfortable with affection, save his mother and sister—he reminded himself he was making an attempt to be there for Tonks. Whatever it was that she needed, he wanted to make the best effort possible to get her through what he could.
"Being an uncle is an exciting prospect," Charlie said with a smile. "As long as your his mother, Tonks, he'll fit right in with the rest of us."
A cool breeze wafted over them. Charlie was very warm-blooded and enjoyed taking walks in cold weather. He probably could have walked around in the cold weather in a t-shirt, but decided against that for many reasons. "Oh! Did I tell you that I had a baby?" he asked, somewhat branching off topic but now quite managing completely. "A Common Welsh Green just laid and last weekend I was able to head back to Romania. The baby was a beautiful baby girl. She burped and ruined my shirt, but it was worth witnessing. The mother is old and we'd been trying for years to get her to lay. And it finally happened."
Pausing, Charlie tried to mask the grin, "sorry. It's good news for me, anyway." The sun would set within the hour. Checking his watch, Charlie noticed they had a bit of time before dinner began, and he was getting hungry. "And I know you want to talk about something else, Tonks, but it's the elephant in the room. I'm here for you, and I hop you know I always have been and always will be."
