Baz had been right, all he really had to do was walk across the room. And it wasn't like he'd been trying to avoid the other boy this year, they just hadn't talked as much as they usually did. They were still mates, and all, but Alfie had had so much going on.... Julien, and now worrying about his mum, and the whole sodding mess with Goyle. It would be nice just to talk about regular things for a while, really.

He closed his journal, and headed across the room, sitting down on Baz's bed and waiting until he was done writing in his own journal to say 'Hey'. He grinned, but it wasn't the usual wide, happy grin that Alfie usually wore. The news program last night was still running over and over in his head, too. They hadn't said his mum's name in that list - but what if they had?

"Yeah," Baz nodded, a very serious tone in his voice. "I noticed that it was getting a little tricky there for a moment and I was gonna help you, really I was, but then you got it just fine - like I knew you could." He grinned at the other boy and watched him as he flopped back on the bed.

Leaning forward, he put his elbows on his knees and his chin in his hands, looking the other boy for a long time before he shrugged. "Pretty good," he said. "I mean, about as well as any of us can be doing at this time. It's a bit weird you know, isn't it?" He pushed dark hair out of his face and tilted his head to the side, then to the other side. "You want to talk about it or you want me to tell you about something stupid that has nothing to do with anything and might make you laugh but also might make you not laugh because my jokes are really bad..." he rambled.

	Alfie seemed to seriously be considering that, and really he'd prefer someone just talk to him about Quidditch and football and something normal, but he didn't want to pretend like none of it was happening, either. "There were just so many names, you know? Even if one of them wasn't my mum's... who's to say it couldn't be. And my dad, he works at the Ministry..." (Reply to this) (Parent)
