Donaghan had taken only a moment to think of which of the Weird Sisters he wanted to visit before making certain his wife was still out. He quickly jotted out a quick note, stating that he was visiting Orsino and that he'd be back later, before bundling up in his coat, scarf and sunglass (that were always a necessity) and left their home. A part of him thought that perhaps he should first drop a note and as him if it was ok to come over for a visit, but he'd rather not give him the chance to say no. Plus this was one of his bandmates! He wouldn't turn him away when he showed up on his doorstep.

So he made it to his normal apparation point, a little alley just off from where he lived that was always empty. He glanced about, double checking there was no one there and then popped away. He showed back up in Canonbury, close to Orsino's flat. He grinned happily and pushed his sunglasses back up on his nose from where they'd slipped and quickly made it to the flat that held his friend. It didn't take him but a moment to reach the proper door and he reached out, wrapping sharply on his door.

"Open, open. Your favorite bass player is here!" he sing-songed at the door, grinning as he waited for Orsino to answer.

It wasn't entirely out of the question for Orsino to sleep quite late at least a few days a week, especially when there were no pressing matters to attend to. And as it so happened that this Wednesday held no pressing matters, Orsino had been lying face down in bed, lingering somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. He could hear Seven puttering around in the living room, and wondered if she'd start whining to be fed soon. She seemed to have grown accustomed to his habits, but sometimes she was impatient.

The relative quiet had kept him from stirring though - as far as he was concerned he could stay here all day and that would be fine. Forget the fact that it was nearly noon already. But then a commotion arose from the living room. Seven started barking loudly, her claws scratched across the floor as she ran to the front door. Almost immediately after, Orsino heard a knock and a familiar voice, though it barely registered over the dog's noise.

Groaning as though the effort of getting out of bed was far too much to ask, Orsino rolled over and rose slowly. He grabbed a shirt from the top of the dresser and pulled it on as he made his way to the door. Knowing who he'd see on the other side, Orsino made little pretense when the door swung open.

Clearly still half-asleep, he squinted out at Donaghan. "Was I expecting you?"

There was a time when Donaghan might have felt bad about waking one of his bandmates, but after the years of playing together, and everything else they'd done together, that feeling had long since stopped popping up. Now he was completely not sorry when he woke them or dragged them along somewhere that perhaps they didn't want to go. As far as Donaghan was concerned it was all a bonding experience. After all they wouldn't work very well together if they didn't have good chemistry and the best way to get that was to have common interests and spend time together. And since getting married Don felt like he didn't spend nearly enough time with any of the other Weird Sisters.

"You should always be expecting me," Don exclaimed cheerfully, giving him a completely innocent look as he bounced in front of the other man. He was a little more hyper now that he was actually here and Orsino had opened the door for him. "So are you going to let me in or should I make some sort of ruckus for your neighbors?"

And Donaghan fully planned on making that ruckus. Not to mention that now that Orsino had a dog he was pretty sure that she could help. Donaghan was very good at making a nuisance out of himself.

"No ruckus, please." Orsino shook his head and stepped back a bit, indicating for Donaghan to enter. As Donaghan stepped through, Orsino nudged at Seven a bit with his toes. He'd been lucky to get a dog that, for some reason, didn't enjoy jumping on guests. On the other hand, she loved their shoes and he knew she'd shortly be snuffling and nipping at Donaghan's heels if he didn't move her aside.

Running both hands through his hair and then over his face several times, Orsino attempted to both wake himself up and fix what he was certainly was a bad case of bedhead. He shut the door. No use letting more cold air in.

"So what brings you up here?" He asked, sounding a bit less grumpy. "You and Elizabeth have a row?"

In a way it was a little sad that Orsino wasn't going to let him cause a ruckus. That could have been a little fun. He knew that his neighbors were way too stuffy and needed a little fun being thrust upon them here and there and he'd imagine that Orsino's did too. But to each their own and he'd be good and not cause one since he let him right in. Though if he'd honestly wanted to cause a ruckus then he'd have needed to bring his instrument with him and perhaps start playing right there. That would certainly start people up one way or another.

Stepping in and away from the door so it could be closed, Don's attention was pulled down to Orsino's dog as it looked like she was trying to get her mouth around the toe of his shoe and he raised his eyesbrows in amusement. "Not so certain those taste all that great, dog," he muttered to her as he pushed her away from his foot like he'd seen Orsino do.

"Since when aren't Elizabeth and I having a row?" he questioned with a grin. "Though she does have a good thing to be annoyed with me about this time."

Orsino raised an eyebrow and he flopped onto the couch. "Not the registration stuff, still?"

Knowing what he did, Orsino couldn't say he'd blame Elizabeth if she was getting upset by what was happening. It was scary enough have band members or parents who were at risk, let alone the person you'd married. Still, he hoped they wouldn't linger on this topic, if that were the case. There'd been enough of that in the papers, and in Heath's journal, which ad been troubling him since he'd read it.

"Hm. Do want anything to drink?"

"That would be it. I kind of want her to go back being mad at me because she wants a baby," Donaghan said with a sigh. It was getting old and he was really tired of going on and on about it. As it was he planned on going in soon. From what he was seeing and hearing he'd be fine and he didn't want to pull Elizabeth into it. But he also didn't come over to visit Orsino and talk about it.

"But I do have to wonder why none of you warned me that being married gave her the right to withhold things and make threats and that I was better off single!" It was said in a joking manner as he mock glared at Orsino and dropped down next to him. His parents had told him not to get married as Elizabeth and him hadn't dated long before jumping into it.

"Actually I'm hungry. Have anything to eat?" He could have stayed home and ate first, but that ran the risk of Elizabeth coming before he left.

"How would I have known? I was..what, twenty? I barely knew anything about dating someone let alone marrying them," Orsino shrugged, giving Donaghan a wry grin. "Although I'm pretty sure they can withhold things regardless of whether you're married or now."

At Donaghan's question about food, Orsino had to pause and think. Actually, he knew full well that he had little more than some takeaway leftovers from a few nights before, dog food, and possibly half a loaf of bread and some deli meat. Though he didn't have any issues with cooking, Orsino hated food shopping and had reserved Thursdays as Food Shopping Day. Thus, his reserves were dreadfully low.

"Errrr...actually, nothing that I'd feel right about trying to feed you."

"You make is sound like I'm so much older then you are. Are you trying to make me feel like I'm an old man or something?" His eyes narrowed again as he eyed his friend, daring him to say that he was. "And there should be some sort of clause in marriage that says they can't withhold the goods once married as they belong to both of us now."

He snorted at Orsino's answer about the food and eyed toward the kitchen in contemplation. He could actually imagine what was in his friend's kitchen and it wasn't tempting in the least. There was only one thing for it though and he sighed and turned back to his friend.

"Guess that means one thing and one thing only, Thrusty old buddy. Time to go out to eat!" He paused there and turned his head in speculation. "Though I guess I don't really know of any good places around here. Any place you like?"

Orsino shrugged noncommittally. "Yeah, if you'd come tomorrow around three I'd have just finished the weekly shopping, and there'd be quite the nice selection. Unfortunately, unless you like dog kibble, there's not much here. That reminds me..."

Rising from the sofa, he walked into the kitchen. Seven seemed to have caught the signal, and she bounded down and followed at his heels, tails wagging.

As he poured some food into her bowl and changed her water, Orsino called out to Donaghan, "But we should go out, you're right. As to where, there's this pretty decent bistro about ten minutes' walk from here. They have really good lunches."

After setting the bowls on the floor and leaving the dog to her meal, he strode back out into the living room. "How's that sound?"

"But if I'd waited until tomorrow at that time then what would I have done today? I'd have been absolutely bored!" Well he wouldn't have been bored as much annoyed. He was beginning to think that perhaps he should drop in on his mates a little more often, but he didn't want them to go expecting him because that certainly took all the fun out of it. Of course there was a chance that he'd drop in and interrupt something and that could either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what that something was and how it was going.

Donaghan watched as Orsino went into the kitchen and his dog bound after him and he grinned. He thought it was amusing that the dog seemed to know exactly what Orsino was doing for her. It proved that dogs were smarter then what a lot of people thought and again he thought of getting Elizabeth a puppy or kitten. Despite how angry she seemed at his suggestion before he was quite certain she would actually like one.

"In all honesty? I'm good for anything that I don't have to cook or Elizabeth hasn't cooked." Neither of them were all that great of a cook, but Donaghan would always tell people that he could make a mean soup and sandwich if they came over at a meal time to his place.

He eyed Orsino as he came back into the living room and a smirk started. "Though I would suggest that if we're going out in public you do something with that hair at the very least."

"Hm, fair point," Orsino muttered as he looked down at himself. He'd already forgotten that he'd basically just rolled out of bed, and still looked it - old sweatpants and a t-shirt that was clearly fraying at the bottom wasn't exactly the sort of thing one went out in. That, and he'd seen his own hair in the morning. It generally wasn't a good sight. "Sad thing is, it would be totally acceptable during a show."

He made a quick trip into the bedroom again, noticing this time that Seven had clearly sneaked into bed with him at some point. There were a few reddish-brown bits of fur here and there. Sighing, he shook out the sheets and changed quickly, running his hair under the bathroom sink faucet and figuring he'd have time to shower properly later.

A few minutes later, Orsino emerged, coat in hand. "I think this is probably a bit better. And I'm actually starting to feel hungry, so the timing is perfect."

Don laughed and shrugged, smiling at the thought. "You have to keep in mind that during a show most of our fans don't care what we look like. And for all you know they're imagining that you've just done something naughty before coming out to the show." Of course he didn't want to truly know what any of their fans thought they were getting up to at any time because he had a feeling they could come up with some truly wild ideas. He knew that he'd certainly read some crazy things in owls and whatnot before.

Most of the time if Donaghan was left alone he'd be overly nosey and snoop around, checking to see what sort of things they had laying around. This time Don was good though and stayed where he was sitting, just glancing around the room from where he was. More then likely the only thing that stopped him from snooping around was the fact that he wanted Orsino to come out to eat with him because he was bored and missed just hanging out with at least one of his mates.

"Definitely a bit better, but just a bit," Don commented, standing from where he was sitting and walking closer to Orsino. "So lets get going. You'll have to lead the way, of course."

"It's going to have to do," Orsino grinned, fully aware that he probably needed a haircut and a shave. Not like anyone was going to care, though. He made for the front door and stepped out, followed by Donaghan, and then locked it behind them.

A blast of winter air shocked Orsino, although he really ought to have expected it. He zipped his coat up as high as it would go and threw a scarf on for good measure.

"Merlin, it's colder than it looked." They began to walk down the sidewalk, passing other homes and a few small businesses. It seemed not many people were out. As they walked by an older woman walking a pair of terriers, Orsino looked over at Donghan. "Nice thing about living around here, though. As far as I can tell it's basically all Muggles. I've not been recognized once since I moved in."

It was cold out, colder then Donaghan remembered and he'd just been out in it what seemed like moments ago. He figured that he just didn't notice last time in his rush to get to Orsino's apartment and do something with his friend. Since it was winter though he expected it to be cold, so he could deal with it for now. He did enjoy dragging Elizabeth to the park to make a snowman and she liked getting him to make a snow angel with her.

Don glanced at the elderly woman who they moved past and his lips twitched up in an amused smile before he looked back toward Orsino. "Or perhaps you've moved into the elderly section and our music doesn't appeal to them so they don't recognize you because you aren't Celestina Warbeck."

Orsino let out a quiet laugh. He hadn't really thought about it before, but there were an awful lot of older people living in the immediate vicinity. It was usually a good thing, though - there was only one family that had young children, and they were never very loud, and people tended to mind their own business. One of his neighbors also liked to bake up huge batches of scones every few weeks and then bring him some because, she said, he reminded her of her grandson. All in all, Orsino was glad he'd chosen this particular location, even if it did mean visitors had to be careful about where they apparated.

"That's entirely possible," he agreed, still smiling. "Although once or twice I've had to be careful, since there's this one man who's noticed people apparating near my door. I think he just thinks his eyes are playing tricks, and he's about 90 or something and practically blind. And his wife gets mad and tells him to stop snooping on the neighbors. So I don't think they take it too seriously. Luckily the last person I had over this week had enough presence of mind to apparate into an alley, like you did."

"Ha! It would be pretty bad if we had to explain that we killed one of your neighbors because we decided to apparate right to your front door." He knew that Obliviators frequently dealt with people apparating in front of muggles amongst other things. Though with the way that things were now he'd be afraid that they wouldn't obliviate the muggles as much as make them disappear. He knew that he definitely didn't want to be the cause for something like that to happen. There were too many disappearances going on now already without help.

"I'm betting that his wife can tell him to stop snooping all she wants he isn't going to. Guess that means we should make sure that all of us know the pop into an alley. Though it could be a great prank on Halloween or April Fool's." He hadn't done a good prank in a while. He wasn't that good at them, honestly, but it was fun to try. He did find it fun to prank Elizabeth's family because he could make it happen after they'd already checked for things.

"That has potential to be perfect," Orsino replied. "I'm always impressed how readily Muggles manage to find ways to explain magic away, even if they've just seen it. It can never just be magic, you know? It's got to be a trick of the light, or the eye, or not enough sleep, or something. They're very creative."

Orsino felt his stomach growl, then, and was grateful that their destination had just come in to view a ways down the street. They'd be there within a few minutes. And then there would be soups, and hot sandwiches, and coffee, and maybe even cookies. Whatever they put down in front of him, Orsino was pretty certain he would gladly eat.

"It's just up there," he said, pointing.

"Or too much alcohol or caffeine," Donaghan added. Muggles evidently thought everything had a logical explanation. And while logical explanations could be found for magic, the explanations came from magical theories and since muggles didn't have access to that, well... He still had yet to explain anything about magic to Elizabeth's immediate family. It had been hard enough to explain it to her and it was easy enough to get by as a muggle since he was muggleborn.

"Food! Great. It's too cold to walk much futher." Unless they cast a warming charm, but that would mean dragging a wand into things. He turned his attention to where they were headed though and nodded, pleased that it looked inviting. He typically found that places that looked nicer typically had pretty good food too.

"Once we get in and settled then I'm going to start asking you questions and dig into your personal life." He figured that Orsino had to be doing something more then just spending time with his dog and them.

"I'll have to prepare myself," Orsino commented sardonically. A few minutes more of braving the cold and idle chatter, and they bustled through the front door of the restaurant.

Given the time, it was predictably full of people on their lunch breaks, at casual meetings, or catching up with friends. It was also blessedly warm. It didn't take very long for a pretty young hostess to seat them towards the back of the room. Though her eyes lingered on both of them perhaps a bit longer than was necessary, Orsino and Donaghan were soon enough left to themselves with a few menus and glasses of water.

Attempting to stave off Donaghan's digging, Orsino perused the menu pointedly. "This is bad...I don't know what I want, and quite frankly I'm tempted to order several meals' worth."

He was amused by Orsino's reaction. He figured it was best to warn him now to all the questions he planned on asking rather then let him find out and get annoyed when he started firing them off. And, should Orsino actually admit to having been up to anything, he'd know to expect questions pertaining to that. He thought that perhaps he should ambush all his friends at some point. It could prove to be amusing.

"Ah, warmth," he muttered, following along behind the hostess and looking around. Don didn't mind the wait they'd possibly have due to the number of people. It would definitely give them enough time to warm up and plenty of time for him to start in on some questions before the food got here. He definitely didn't want to prompt any talking with a mouth full of food.

"I think the hostess would love to give you a meal tip or two." He glanced toward where she was before looking back to Orsino. "Though I do admit it is tempting to order a number of things. Some of these sound really good."

Snickering at Don's comment about the hostess, Orsino looked up from the menu.

"That's the problem, basically everything here is. The only time I've regretted ordering something it was some sort of bisque or something, but it was probably just coincidental that I came down with a fever later that day."

He returned to the menu, idly drumming the fingers of his left hand on the table. In his head he began to make up a few combinations of menu items. "I think..." he said slowly as he sipped at the water. "That the French onion soup needs to be a part of my life..."

"Ah, that actually sounds really good. Hmm." He didn't know that he'd get that himself, but it was quite tempting. For that matter a soup and sandwich combination was starting to sound really good and the longer he looked the more he found himself leaning toward the turkey blt, but couldn't seem to decide between the onion soup and clam chowder.

"So, why we're making this decisions that will, of course, be life altering... You should mention anything fun you've been up to. You know, beyond the band, your dog and sleep." It seemed easier to keep up with his friends that all lived together, but the other two seemed to slip to the side. He'd have to try to go and bother Kirley sometime soon too.

Instead of answering Donaghan immediately, Orsino chose to peruse his meal options a little longer. Having reached a good idea of the Meal Plan, he set it down in front of him and watched one of the servers pass by with a tray full of various items (of a delicious nature).

"Well you know how I am," he answered, scratching at the back of his neck before settling back into the seat. "I sort of keep to myself when we're not touring. But I met this girl a few weeks ago, around New Year's. Actually it's weird, she's basically Meghan's best friend but we ran into each other entirely by accident."

He cocked his head a bit. "Actually you may already have heard about this from someone, everyone's in each other's business I've realized."

On a normal day Donaghan probably would have hassled one of his friends into giving him an answer rather then let him sit there silently, but he knew that Orsino would have to answer. It wasn't like other times when the other guys were there to serve as a distraction. The only thing that could distract them here would be the waitress and even that would only be very temporary. So that meant that Donaghan could be patient and wait for Orsino to answer when he was ready.

"I'm beginning to think that is how most of us are, honestly." Which made it odd in his mind that he was honestly married to someone that was in no way connected to the band. "Wait, Meghan's friend? And it was all just a big coincidence?" Now that was an amusing notion. "Does Meghan know this?"

"Bit of an understatement, that," Don muttered good naturedly. "But in all honesty I didn't know about this, so let's continue on with this topic, yeah?"

"It's these journals, I swear," Orsino said, running a hand through his hair. He sounded a bit agitated. "They make it way too easy to find out what everyone else is up to."

He smirked apologetically at Donaghan, aware that he'd very nearly begun to rant on how the occasional creepiness of the journals just might outweigh their usefulness. Taking a long sip of water, Orsino sighed and started again. This was one thing he liked very much about Donaghan - he was very easy to talk to, even if he was a bit...well, prying wasn't the word exactly. Orsino was just very protective of his privacy, even in his friendships at times.

"Anyway. Yeah, Meghan's friend. Weird, right? Shocking as this may seem, I think we actually started talking over the journals casually and then, of all things, we bumped in to each other at a Muggle record store and went to lunch or something. I don't really remember exactly."

He drummed the fingers of his left hand on the table. "So a completely strange coincidence. And Meg knows...she got very...intense about it. I was starting to get annoyed with her. This could potentially become problematic."

“I do admit that the journals definitely make it easier for people to pry. Random people, that is. Whether we had the journals or not I’d be nosy and want to know what was going on.” Though he did know when to back off, most of the time. He wasn’t going to say that he knew to back off every time, but some of the times he did and he would.

“You met over the journals?” Now that was too amusing. He was pretty sure that Orsino wasn’t the biggest fan of the journals, especially from what he’d said earlier. Though now Donaghan was going to have to go back to his journal and try to find some of Orsino’s last entries to see if he could see when he and the girl had started talking. It would be amusing. Or at least he thought it would be amusing. He’d make certain not to mention to Orsino that he had.

He furrowed his eyebrows as he listened and frowned, snorting quietly. “Does she have a problem with it or was she a little too into the idea? Because I don’t really see why she’d have an issue with this.” It was rather implied in his tone that there wasn’t an issue because it was Orsino. In all honesty he could see there being an issue if it was some of his other band mates.

Orsino rolled his eyes. "Yes, I know, of all the places I'd start talking to someone..."

Actually, he found it funny himself. Here he'd been dreading using the things and, as far as he was concerned, he'd benefited the most out of his mates so far. This whole thing with Meghan, though, and he supposed Penny's roommate, might prove to be an issue if he wasn't careful.

"Definitely didn't seem very into the idea, at least not when she was practically interrogating me," Orsino explained. He couldn't imagine that the exchange would have gone much better face to face. Probably would have been worse. "I get the impression she thinks, or thought, I planned to treat this lightly. To put it simply. Apparently she missed the part where Penny is completely fine with our current arrangement."

“You do have to admit that it is rather amusing. I honestly figured that one of the others would meet someone over the journals before you would.” Not that he thought that Orsino was any sort of true recluse, but he was typically more closed off then the rest of them.

It was nice that he managed to get the name of the mysterious journal girl without having to actually ask what it was. Not that he didn’t already have a clue since it was one of Meghan’s friends and Meghan was definitely another one that they typically knew a lot about at any given point due to her being a sibling of Kirley.

“I don’t really get that. Well, that’s not true. I get it, I just don’t get why she’s like that if Penny is ok with it.” He could definitely see sticking up for his friends if he thought that a relationship was going to occur that didn’t have the best interests for his friend involved. “Perhaps Meghan just jumped to conclusions without finding out first? It is kind of easy to react first when friends are involved and then think logically about it later.”

"Maybe," he said, with a shrug. "Just pissed me off. I mean Meg's like sister and all, and I get why she'd be protective. But she seemed to be assuming I planned on having my fun and then leaving her friend hurt, or something."

Orsino didn't think he'd done anything to deserve such presumptions. True, he'd gotten into his fair share of trouble with girls and hangers-on in the past, especially during the first year or so of the band's turbulent rise in popularity. And he hadn't exactly had any serious relationships in several years (not that that was what this was). But what reason was that to assume he was planning on using a girl, who he actually did consider a friend, and then tossing her aside when he was bored?

The waitress returned, looking eager to take their orders. Orsino placed his and then looked to Donaghan. He was glad for the break in conversation, if only brief. He could feel himself getting riled again, and didn't like that it was directed toward Meghan.

“Maybe Penny’s last boyfriend was a real number? That could also explain why Meghan acted the way she did.” He paused at that before shaking his head as though to clear it before looking back to Orsino. “Not that it really gives her a right to treat you like that even if that is the case.”

His attention was effectively pulled away when the waitress returned and he dutifully ordered his own meal after Orsino. He was rather amused by her behavior and watched as she almost seemed a little upset that it hadn’t taken them longer to order. And when she left Donaghan found it hard to hold in his mirth at the situation.

“I think that waitress has a sweet spot for you, Orsino. Bet she’d love to get you dessert.” He figured it was a good idea to perhaps steer the conversation away from what they were talking about, if only for a moment. It honestly did amuse him to see things like that though he was more used to it when they were in the wizarding world. He found it very amusing to watch people trip over themselves sometimes when they were out and about. Though he did have to admit that it did get rather old at times. Right now it was amusing though since he was quite certain that her attitude had nothing to do with their music.

"Oh, don't assume it's me," Orsino shot back teasingly. "I come in here often enough, she's used to seeing me. Seems to me you've been the one to get her all hot and bothered."

The mention of dessert, however, did bring to mind just how hungry he was now. This was what you got when you slept in til after noon, he supposed. A growly stomach and nothing to do for it but wait.

"They have very good blueberry pie here," he added, almost as an after thought. "You should save room."

Donaghan gave Orsino an incredulous look and shook his head. "Absolutely not. Though I guess if perhaps she wasn't observant then she might not notice." He was pretty sure that Elizabeth wouldn't care one way or another and Don would be the one paying for the oversight. "I think that she's probably been giving you looks like that and reacting like that often and you've just failed to notice."

"I think you fail to remember just how much I can eat," Don pointed out with a grin. "I fully plan on eating all of my food and getting a dessert. A good meal must always be followed up by a dessert."

Depending on how long Donaghan visited with Orsino then he might even stop somewhere on his way home to pick up some sort of dessert for both Elizabeth and himself to have tonight. It might actually help in the long run depending on her mood. She was often in a foul mood recently, but that was to be expected with how everything was right now. She was just worried.

"Maybe you ought to ask her when she gets back?" Orsino said lightly, looking amused. "Some girls like to go after married men."

Pushed to the end of the table flush with the wall was a small, upright card with a list of desserts and coffees. He reached over to it and picked it up, giving it a cursory glance before waving it at Donaghan. "Have a look. We should just each order half and see how much of it we get through."

All this talk of flirty waitresses and girls that were friends-but-maybe-more, Orsino suddenly felt that he'd neglected to ask about what was going on in Donaghan's life. Some parts of it were common knowledge to him by now, given the latest happenings in the news, but there had to be some things that were actually good, actually worth talking about.

"But now I've talked a bit about what I've been doing," Orsino went on, dropping the dessert list in front of his friend. "What about you?"

“Um... How about not?” Don replied with a smile, shaking his head. He definitely wasn’t going to open that can of worms as he had a feeling that it could go awkward very, very quickly. He was quite content just chatting with Orsino and keeping things light despite the bit of tension earlier about Penny and Meghan.

“Yes, desserts!” he crowed, happily taking the menu from his friend. There was nothing like a good dessert after a good meal and if they were both going to order something and share then that made it all the more better in his opinion. And depending on how good things were here then he might have to bring Elizabeth here someday and see what she thought. She did like it when he took her out places, even if it was as simple as a little restaurant like this.

When the conversation shifted to him though he just blinked at Orsino before snorting. “You want to know about what I’ve been doing? I would have thought that obvious from my entries.” He was, of course, teasing. Most of the time he wrote an entry when Elizabeth was upset with him, but he realized that probably made people think that they did nothing but fight. He certainly didn’t want people getting that sort of impression about the two of them.

“I know that Elizabeth and I have been married for going on two and a half years, but it is still kind of surreal, you know? And nowadays it seems as though my life revolves strictly around you guys and her and that there really isn’t anyone else.” And that made it easy for him to forget about the fact that they had fans and people who expected to see and hear from them now and again. “Though fair warning... If Elizabeth gets word of Penny she just might want to send her an owl no matter how casual and have some sort of girly get together to talk about us.”

In spite of himself, Orsino felt his eyes go a bit wide before he reigned in his reaction to that last statement. He liked Elizabeth quite a bit, and doubted very much that she and Donaghan argued as often as they made it seem. At the very least, he thought it probably kept things interesting for them. In a way he sort of admired Donaghan's being able to keep a marriage together with the kind of life they all led. Even if it had only been two years, it was hard enough to date someone regularly, let alone make that sort of commitment.

"Merlin, do you think so?" he wondered, pressing his lips together. He cracked a knuckle against the tabletop. "It's not like this is serious. We're not even dating. Just..." Trailing off, Orsino appeared to be looking for the proper term to describe what he and Penny had been up to for the past month. "...meeting. Nothing for everyone to get so excited about."

Orsino’s reaction to what Donaghan said set him off to laughing. Despite the fact that he was able to get his facial expression under control, he could still tell that the idea had rather unnerved the other man. “I do think so. Elizabeth won’t care that it isn’t all that serious. She’ll just care that she’s got another female she can go off on about the life and habits of someone in a band. She’s kinda determined that we’re our own subspecies or something.”

“Though I guess I can help you out there and do my solemn best not to tell her about Penny.” Though he wasn’t entirely certain how well that would work out. A lot of the time he ended up saying a lot more to his wife then he meant to and she certainly didn’t like secrets. Though if she ever got the idea he was keeping something from her, he could always tell her that it wasn’t his secret to tell. Then again that might send her off on a hunt through the Weird Sisters to find out who it was.

This was hardly comforting to Orsino. He knew it wouldn't be the end of the world, and anyway Penny definitely seemed keen on making new friends. Still, he liked his privacy, or at least until things were settled a bit more. And somehow he wasn't so sure that Donaghan wouldn't drop it into conversation casually without thinking.

"We are all a bit mad, you have to admit," he grinned back. "Though how can we not be?"

Sometimes Orsino was surprised that he'd managed to be with the band for almost four years and not yet lose his sanity. He was positive there had been several times when he almost had. "It's okay. I'm sure someone will say something to someone at some point. It's not like there's any reason not to."

He picked up his fork and squinted at the prongs of it, before adding absently, "Although I hope Penny doesn't have anything to go off about. She seems pretty pleased about things so far."

“I don’t think we’d be nearly as successful if we weren’t a bit mad.” He was quite certain that part of their success was their antics though certainly not the main part. Though he did realize that they were getting a further view into their oddities now that they had the journals to post in. They most certainly went a little crazy on those now and again.

“Ah, but I wouldn’t want to be the one to add to your deer in headlights look, Thrusty,” Donaghan pointed out with an amused smile. He knew that Elizabeth could be daunting in her own right when she was just being friendly and he certainly didn’t want to set her on his reclusive friend’s almost girl or on his reclusive friend to find out about her. “Though I might be able to get her to promise to not be too prying when she does find out.” As it was inevitable that she would find out.

His attention was momentarily distracted when their waitress walked past with someone else’s food and he frowned that it wasn’t their food. “I don’t think she would have anything to go off about. I think it is more that Elizabeth will be glad to have someone else that is romantically involved, no matter how casually, with someone that is part of the group.”

"That's true," Orsino nodded. "I guess usually it's more of who's with who on a weekly basis. Suddenly you get someone sticking around for a bit longer and it's all," He waved his hands around in emphasis. "The world is coming to an end, stop the presses, alert the paparazzi. But yeah, Elizabeth would probably appreciate sharing that in common with someone."

He grinned, then perked up when he caught sight of their waitress approaching. Waggling his eyebrows once or twice at Donaghan, he gave him a nudge with his foot under the table and for a moment looked positively devious. The girl drew up to their table with the tray and doled the food out to its proper owner. After refilling their drinks, she was on her way, possibly with more haste than before.

"Wonder if she heard us?" Orsino muttered as he attacked his soup with a vengeance.

“They don’t think much about that. Sure they’ll do their little story about our ‘manwhore’ ways, but their content in the knowledge they’ll always have a bit of juicy gossip. Which gets ruined if you get married.” Which actually made him pause and think about it for a moment. “I wonder if maybe they get acting like that then because they want to see if they can cause enough drama for a split? Because certainly a married couple isn’t nearly as exciting...”

Don briefly thought about making an exclamation about their food again, but figured he’d done enough of that for now and settled for grinning benignly as she made her way over. The grin dropped though and he scowled over the table at Orsino when he felt the foot nudge him and saw the look on his friend’s face. He was half tempted to stomp on his foot, but refrained from doing so and watched as the food was given out and she practically fled the table.

“Must have,” Don replied with a snort. “I don’t think I really care though since she was quite obvious in her looks earlier. It’ll show her to use a bit more discretion.” Not that he wasn’t the obvious sort when he flirted, but he was completely up-front about it.

He just shook his head and smirked again, almost managing to miss his mouth with the spoon. "I'm sure she'll get over it. I think you have to have a thick skin to be in her line of work."

As it was, it was awkward enough to eat this soup. The cheese didn't seem to want to give way, simply stretching from the bowl to the spoon to his mouth. Orsino wasn't overly fond of trying to bite through a mass of cheese hanging from his mouth, but it was either that or spend an undue amount of time trying to cut through it with the spoon before hand.

Or choke on it. Instead of eating this bite, he gave the spoon a reproachful look and dumped the cheese back on top. Maybe it'd be best to shove it aside for now and go for the actual soup.

"What'd you get, anyway?" he asked, looking over at Donaghan's plate.

Donaghan made a small hum of agreement as he started into his own soup. “I’d say that she’s probably dealt with her share of, um, special customers. Elizabeth worked as a waitress when she was a teenager and said she had to deal with all sorts.”

“Clam chowder for my soup,” he replied absently as crushed up the crackers in their little pack and then tried to open it carefully without ripping it violently and sending little crackery bits across the table and into Orsino’s soup. “Ha!” He couldn’t help the little happy cry from escaping when he finally managed it and he dumped the contents into his soup and stirred it up, taking a quick bite when he was done. “And a tasty turkey melt for my sandwich.”

He glanced over toward Orsino’s food and noticed his battle with the cheese in his soup and smiled. He rather thought the cheese was the best part of that particular soup, but he might have just been partial to cheese period. “What did you finally decide on, again? I know what soup you got...”

"Evil soup, by the looks of it," Orsino said. "Or evil cheese. I haven't decided yet. And steak with..." He lifted the top piece of bread, having forgotten exactly what else was on it. "Ah, peppers and onions and I think that's spicy mustard there. And cheddar?"

It was painfully clear that Orsino hadn't really been paying much attention to what he'd ordered. He'd been more focused on the fact that his stomach had felt like it was going to begin eating itself. Still, this smelled really good.

He returned to what Donaghan had said before, feeling that there only so much commentary you could have on what you were eating. "Yeah, before the band and everything I worked at this cafe in Diagon...I think it got closed down recently, actually. But the customers at these places are insane sometimes."

"Hmm... I think it's evil cheese." He figured he could put his two cents into the conversation about Orsino's soup. It was actually rather interesting watching him try to deal with it. He knew that when he got that soup he often resorted to using his fingers to break it off. He didn't really care what other people thought when he did it either, but thought that perhaps Orsino might. "Your sandwich doesn't sound so bad either."

As Orsino spoke Donaghan pulled his own sandwich closer and used his knife to cut the halves in half again and picked up a piece, taking a bite of it. He rather liked altering between the two and he briefly contemplated dipping the sandwich into his soup and seeing what that tasted like.

"Work? Before the band?" He made his tone scandalized and shocked as he gazed at Orsino and shook his head. "I've never heard such insane ideas. And for all you know I might have been one of those insane customers."

"I know, it's unthinkable, isn't it?" Orsino said with a cynical little look. He'd been a bit late in joining the band, arriving around the same time as Merton, and largely on a whim.

"Not all of us had rock star ambitions when we graduated. Actually, I apparently didn't have many at all, considering where I was working when I saw that advert in the window."

He was very conspicuously eying one of Donaghan's sandwich quarters by now. Shamelessly, and acting as though it weren't rude at all, Orsino reached over and plucked it up. He held it up like he was giving it an inspection. "Mm, turkey."

"Now that is an idea I'm not certain I can wrap my head around. Who wouldn't have rockstar ambitions growing up and want to keep them and make them reality as an adult?" Of course he was teasing. He knew plenty of kids that had thought of doing that, especially when he'd been in primary, and very few kept that dream to adulthood. He also knew that his parents had often wished he'd have grown out of it until he actually managed to join a group and make money.

Out of all the things he thought Orsino might do during this lunch outing he definitely didn't expect him to reach across the table and take one of the pieces of his sandwich. Though there was a part of him that reminded him that the band often had a free for all when it came to food and just grabbed whatever and so it shouldn't have been all that shocking.

"So are you the food inspector now?" he questioned, giving him a wry look. "And if not, well, should I worry about any of my other food going missing?" Or rather more of his sandwich because he highly doubted anyone in the band would resort to sticking a spoon in a soup that wasn't theirs.

"No, not the inspector. Taste-tester, maybe." he replied, still holding the sandwich, now threateningly close to his mouth. "Nah."

He replaced the sandwich quarter where it had been before turning to his own. It was very satisfying, and much easier to eat than the soup had been. After his battle with the cheese, he'd decided to throw it on top of his chips and tackle those with a fork and knife. It had seemed to be a good plan so far.

Having some more water, he looked across the table. "I think it's harder work than a lot of people assume. But I can't really see myself doing something else anymore, you know?"

Don scrunched his nose up as he watched his sandwich quarter get awfully close to Orsino's mouth before snorting as he put it back on Don's plate. He would have let him have that quarter if he wanted, but he would definitely have raised a fuss had he tried to take much more beyond that.

"I don't think we require taste-testers, Thrusty," Don muttered as he pulled his plate closer to himself with a grin. He'd changed his mind about letting Orsino have a quarter if he really wanted it. He'd act like a kid in primary if he had to and wrap an arm around his plate if he had to.

He bit into another piece of his sandwich and thought about what his friend said and nodded, agreeing. "I think a lot of people just see the fame and money and don't realize what it takes to get there. The hours of practice, trying to come up with songs and lyrics that are good, all the moving around. There isn't as much freedom and other things they think we have. Everything we've achieved we've worked hard for."

Orsino feigned a pout as he finished off the first half of his sandwich. It was a bit scary when you realized you'd eaten a good deal of your meal and not even noticed as you did so. But he chalked it up to eating with a friend, really more of a brother. It seemed to Orsino they didn't get to see enough of each other outside of a business environment, so far as the band could be considered business. They probably all got sick of one another after a point, but Don being married made him especially difficult to get a hold of at times.

"Precisely," he said, taking up a particularly long chip and biting off a chunk. As he spoke he waved the remainder in front of him, subconsciously punctuating his words. "Did you ever think of stopping? I mean I know we all have at some point or another, after a bad show or a disagreement or things like that. But really, seriously considered taking a break?"

Admittedly, Orsino had never really considered what life would be like beyond this. He liked being in the band, a lot, probably more than it seemed most of the time.
