It had taken weeks of cajoling and planned attacks, but Padma and Parvati were finally allowed to head to Diagon to shop. Even with what had happened, and the things they'd found out about how back things were getting from the DA - Padma had to admit that it was a relief to be away from home for a while. The more their mother worried, the more stifling and nitpicky she tended to be. Padma loved her mother, but she and Parvati were almost grown and in their last year of school, and having their mother trying to invade every moment of their time and every aspect of their lives - it was getting tiresome.
Still, she couldn't help but be taken aback when she saw Diagon. She hadn't been here in months, and the changes were startling. Of course she'd known that shops had closed and that there were a good deal less people milling about - but it was still somehow shocking to see the quiet, somewhat glum atmosphere that hung over the usually bustling place.
But it was still better than being at home. And Padma did have some things to get. Justin at least had said he'd come, and if anyone else did - it'd be nice to see familiar faces that weren't Parvati's for a bit. She waited outside the Leaky - idly playing with the lotus blossom necklace she wore, just because Parvati hadn't let her bring a book. Her sister had ducked into the Leaky for a moment anyway, and Padma wasn't sure Parvati wouldn't end up heading off with a friend anyway - their shopping interests didn't usually intersect. So she should have just ignored her and brought a book, clearly.
