Padma looked up and smiled widely, standing up to greet him. Padma wasn't insecure, really, but she didn't have Parvati's easy ability to socialize or make friends, or popularity either. So she always half expected that people would show up, and was relieved to see it wasn't the case when it didn't happen.
"She's inside, but I don't know if she wants to hang about me all day anyway - we have spent the whole summer under each other's feet, mostly." Which had been nice, at least part of the time. They were closer again now than they had been for a while, which Padma was grateful for. She and Parvati didn't always understand one another very well, but she loved her sister, and admired her good qualities and bravery, which Padma didn't feel she had that much of.
"It's good to see you - are you in a hurry? I thought I'd wait a bit and see if Parvati wants to stay with us, or if she has friends coming, or if anyone else happens to drop by before I wandered off to pick things up?" she suggested. Padma felt better just having him there, really. They might not share a house, but Justin was familiar and had always been friendly and nice. It made Diagon seem less unwelcoming.
