Ellie was bored. Alfie and Audrey were both involved with other people and so Ellie was trying to be nice about it and not bother them as much. After all they probably wanted to spend time with their significant others and she couldn’t begrudge them that. She was certain that if she had a significant other she’d want to spend a great deal of time with them as well. Plus everything was so new for Audrey and Fiona and Ellie assumed that it was definitely important for them to be alone together.
And that was why she was wandering the halls of Hogwarts alone on a Saturday without a real destination in mind or any plans on what she could do. Had she been thinking more about what she was doing then perhaps she would have explored Hogwarts some more since it was so large and changing all of the time, but she wasn’t really thinking about things like that. Her mind drifted from thoughts of what was going on, which brought up worries about her mum, and the normal things that girls her age thought about. Almost unbidden her conversation with her brother from not too long ago came up to mind and she chuckled quietly, remembering how he’d basically told her to get in trouble.
She didn’t plan on honestly getting in any trouble though. She wasn’t one for confrontations if she could avoid them. Sure she’d sent Capper that anonymous owl and had to scratch out bits of comments to her or Weasley, but that wasn’t really getting in trouble. No, that was her voicing her displeasure at how Capper had handled her relationship with Audrey. Or rather how she hadn’t handled ending it. It still rankled her when she thought about it and she found herself getting annoyed, but her attention was pulled back to the real world when she had to dodge a bright burst of light heading toward her and she turned toward a sheepish third year practicing spells in the corridor.
“Hey now! Watch what you are doing. You aren’t even allowed to practice in the halls and if you are going to then you definitely need to make sure you don’t hit someone!” She rolled her eyes and grinned at the muttered apologies and babble about Charms and how hard it was before waving the student off and starting up again. Of course she’d only just started up again when she had to dodge again to stop from having a near collision with a human body. That just went to show her that she needed to practice what she preached. It wouldn’t do for her to run someone down after getting on the third year to watch their spellwork.
“Oops. Sorry,” Ellie said, turning to the person she’d nearly ran down with an apologetic smile.
