Who: Eloise & Theo
When: end of classes
Where: random hallage
What: scene lottery: Professor Trelawney makes a dark prediction about the both of you as she passes you in the hall.
Rating: TBA

The longer Theo went through the motions of class, dinner, homework, bed, the more he thought about the future and what the point of everything he was doing here was. He found more and more that he couldn't come up with an answer to that question, and this was pushing him into dangerously reckless territory; he couldn't see any way that he'd survive the coming war, if he even got that far, if his father didn't put him down the minute he refused to take the Mark. He knew that he'd never have a place with the hypocrites on the so-called side of the Light and that left him, as ever, on his own, a position that he preferred but that he knew was the most vulnerable. Maybe.

He'd shaken those dark thoughts from his mind at the end of History of Magic and was intending to return to his dorm for a lie down; he had a headache the size of a Ridgeback and he'd been feeling tired all day, for the past few days now. He was starting to believe what Greg said about him sleepwalking, although a large part of him still wanted to deny it. His other dorm mates hadn't said anything about it to him yet and he didn't know if it was just a ploy of Greg's to get into his bed - not that the seventh year minded this.

Not much longer navigating through the halls and then he'd be headed down to the Slytherin common rooms.

Usually the prospect of a Quidditch game to watch - even if Hufflepuff wouldn't be playing tomorrow - was something that put a bounce in Eloise's step. In spite of this, she just hadn't been feeling very excited about it. Or anything, really. Though it had been a few weeks since her mother had disappeared, there were points when it seemed to hit Eloise all over again. Even if she wasn't still reeling, it had been hard to get her spirits up.

After lying in her dorm for a while, trying to work on an assignment for Charms, Eloise had decided that a long shower might do the trick. So she'd headed down to the bathrooms, taking her time and just trying to clear her mind. After standing beneath the steam and hot water long enough that she could no longer justify just lingering there, Eloise had dressed and was now taking her time on the journey back through the corridors. No reason to rush - it was a Friday, after all.

Occupied with her own thoughts, Eloise rounded a corner and didn't notice another student doing the same thing until it was too late. She roughly bumped shoulders with him and stumbled back, pushing some wet hair out of her face. "I'm sorry, er, are you OK?"

Theo was caught on Eloise's shoulder and let the force move him without bothering to try and stop it, keeping his balance and remaining on his feet. The damp feeling of the brush of hair against him was unpleasant, but nothing that he could truly be motivated to take offence to.

"You did no damage." he chose to answer in that answer-but-isn't way he had. As far as questions go, a pedantic answer would have summarised as a hefty 'no', but Theo wasn't in the mood for playing tonight and besides, he wouldn't have really exposed his thoughts like that on a one-off bump.

"Oh, well. Good."

Eloise stood there looking at the boy across from her. She knew he was in her year, then, and in Slytherin. In the past they'd had some classes together, though luckily not very often. She wracked her brain trying to come up with his name...he never talked much, and when he did it was usually something strange...

For some reason Eloise didn't quite feel compelled to just continue on her way yet. She may not have been the most social person, but she could tell when someone else was troubled. Especially today, when she was positive she felt the same.

"You're..." she began, her voice trailing off for a few seconds before the name finally came to her. "Theodore?"

Theo had been stopped in his tracks and was well and truly stopped at that; he didn't feel much like moving on either, like the weight of his headache was enough to weigh him down in place. He almost but didn't wince a little at the use of his full name. "Indeed." he said, sounding vaguely unamused. At least she hadn't used his surname. "And you're wet."
