A mysterious crying coming from the Forbidden Forest
Characters: Megan Jones & Anthony Goldstein
Setting: 01/23/98. Saturday Afternoon (future dated). 2pm-ish
Summary: Scene lotto While out on the grounds, you hear a mysterious crying coming from the Forbidden Forest, sounding as if someone is in pain. If you look, nothing can be found.

Megan had escaped the confines of the castle walls a little later than she'd planned the night before. She'd fallen a bit on her exercise regimen and was finally going to jump back onto the wagon of early morning jogs and eager to please endorphins. Unfortunately, she'd overslept and didn't exactly make it out before the sunrise. Instead she didn't even make it out until after lunch. And thanks to laziness and January chill the intended jog turned into something of a meandering walk instead.

As she made her way down a familiar path toward the lake Megan was humming an upbeat tune by the wizarding band, The Hollering Hinkypunks. Having chosen to partake in this little 'exercise' outing alone she wasn't giving much mind to who might of heard her. However, halfway to her destination Megan's attention was suddenly jolted from the beat of her song to something...less pleasant. She could have sworn she'd heard someone scream a little off in the distance. She stopped a moment in her pace and listened...but there was nothing.

Shrugging it off she returned to her brisk walk and the humming was restarted. Course when she heard the scream again Megan stopped again and listened. Nothing. Cautiously she moved to walk away but there it was again!

Listening more intently Megan found herself taking a few steps off the beaten path toward the surrounding trees. While there was still a few good yards between her and the Forbidden Forrest the Hufflepuff had instinctively retrieved her wand from her pocket. Starring into the darkening Forrest she attempted to will the sound to be heard again her head tilted slightly as though it'd make a difference.

Megan had jumped slightly when Goldstein interrupted her. She instinctively pointed her wand at the bloke before realizing who it was. Though she and Anthony Goldstein weren't exactly friends, even in the classroom setting, she knew who the boy was. Well ... she knew him enough to know he wasn't much of a threat in this particular situation.

"Jesus," she sighed as she lowered her wand before looking back at the spot in the darkness she'd been trying to peer through. She didn't exactly think much of the question - obviously disregarding it as she asked her own question. "You heard it too?" she asked looking over at the Ravenclaw.

Just as she did, however, there was another blood curdling scream from beyond and the Hufflepuff quickly retreated a few steps away from the collection of trees and toward Anthony. "What is that!?" she asked as she made a point to quickly position herself so that she wasn't the closest person to the foliage.

Subconsciously she had it in her head that Anthony was a boy, right? He'd protect her if something jumped out at them. If not...at least with him between her and whatever it was...she had a better chance of getting away.
