The idea of living forever had never been something Lucy fancied doing. Sure, it was a grand idea and one that could easily tempt many. However, Lucy couldn't imagine what she would be like five years from now. Who's to say she would like being 600 years old? She would miss too many of the people around her, that was for sure.
As Nikolas took to thinking over his response, Lucy swung her feet back and forth slightly, if only because she felt as if she should be doing something during the silence. They stopped swinging just after Nikolas finally answered.
She certainly hadn't been expecting that answer.
It made her rather happy to know that he'd taken such an interest in the books she had sent him.
"Oscar Wilde is a brilliant choice!" she told him, grinning rather broadly. "He was a terrific man, incredibly witty. And a bit of a rebel, too."
